Li Jian, Doctoral Candidate in College of Physics and Optoelectronics was Awarded as “Hundred Postgraduate Party Members Pioneers”
Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the list of the second batch of “Hundred Postgraduate Model Party Branches” and “Hundred Postgraduate Party Members Pioneers” in universities. Li Jian, a doctoral student of Optical Engineering department in College of Physics and Optoelectronics, was awarded as one of the “Hundred Postgraduate Party Members Pioneers”. This is an important breakthrough in the ideological and political work of postgraduates in Taiyuan University of Technology at the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and also a landmark achievement of the “double construction” of party construction in the university, and a great honor for the College of Physics and Optoelectronics.
Li Jian, a doctoral student in our college enrolled in 2018. He is major in Photo-Electronic Engineering. He went to Taiyuan, Lvliang, Linfen and Jincheng cities during his study, and researched the safety of coal mines, traffic, power supply and gas transmission, and developed five sense monitors, which realized long-distance high-precision linear engineering multiparameter monitoring based on fiber optic sensing for the first time in the world.
His products are applied to the safety monitoring of Xiaoyi Xishan coalfield, the slope of the new national highway Taike line, Linfen power grid, Qinshui gas pipeline, etc., which can save 12.87 million dollars per year for national disaster treatment. China Laser evaluated it as the world’s smartest dam in fiber optic sensing achievement on its official website home page.
Based on the international difficulty that the distance and resolution ratio of fiber optic sensing cannot be reconciled, Li Jian first raised the resolution ratio to millimeter level, which solved the key problem in the field of sensing in China and filled the gap of national strategy.
Li Jian has published 8 SCI papers as the first author, and one of them was awarded the Outstanding Paper of China Laser. He presided over one postgraduate innovation project in Shanxi Province, authorized 8 invention patents (first by his supervisor and second by himself), published 7 invention patents as the first inventor, published 2 international patents, and registered 8 software copyrights. He attended and presented at the International ICOCN, CIOP, Optics Conference, and the National Conference on Optomechanical Technology, and won the Outstanding Presentation Award of the National Conference on Optomechanical Technology. For two consecutive years, he was awarded the National Postgraduate Scholarship, the National Telecommunication Scholarship, and the Niu Hanben Academician Scholarship, and he was qualified for a public exchange visit to the UK due to his excellent performance. Li Jian’s excellent performance has been widely publicized and reported by mainstream media, which has a positive impact inside and outside the university.
The selection of “Hundred Postgraduate Model Party Branches” and “Hundred Postgraduate Party Members Pioneers” is a nationwide effort to implement Xi Jinping’s thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, implement the spirit of the National Conference on Postgraduate Education and write the “Stroke of Progress” in education. It can encourage the postgraduate party branches and postgraduate party members to give full play to the role of leadership, which fully reflects the relevance, leadership and innovation of postgraduate ideological and political work in the new era.
